Lap System

The term LAP is an acronym meaning Learning Activities Package.  It is a system whereby each teacher prepares a package of learning activities to cover a certain topic.  Each LAP contains:

  1. The objectives that the teacher is trying to achieve for that topic.
  2. A time limit in which the LAP should be completed.
  3. Assignments that the student is required to do.
  4. An optional enrichment activity for those students who seek an extra challenge.

The general philosophy of the LAP system is that the instructor will proceed through the course at a rate that is comfortable for a majority of the class.  Then students have the options of working ahead if they can or to work as slow as they need.  This, however, is not a license to procrastinate.  Students must demonstrate continuing effort, working at their capacity or the instructor will fail the student.
